A reggae star accused of abusing four young girls in a series of attacks dating back to 2005 has denied all the charges against him.
Byron Broderick, 58, who performs as King Bootielero, faces three counts of rape and two of sexual assault against youngsters, between the ages of eight and 16.
Originally from St Mary, Jamaica, Broderick is a prolific reggae artist and has released nine albums in just two years. His work is featured on Spotify and Apple Music.
He appeared at Wood Green Crown Court today via video-link.
Katie Mustard, defending, said that the trial might take longer than ten days because there are concerns that the jury may have trouble understanding Broderick’s accent.
She said: ‘There are potential issues understanding his accent.’
Broderick, of Barnet, north London, denied three counts of rape and two of sexual assault between 2005 and 2017.
He was remanded in custody ahead of his ten-day trial on January 4 next year.

Judge Timothy Walker told the artist: ‘You have pleaded not guilty to these matters. Your trial will take place on 4 January next year.
‘That is the earliest date that the court could accommodate.’
The charges follow a Met investigation that began when a woman, now in her 20s, reported non-recent allegations to the police in June 2025.
Detective Constable Liam Levy, who is leading the investigation, said: ‘It takes a significant amount of bravery to come forward and report allegations of a sexual nature.
‘We are continuing to support the women who have come forward.
‘Our investigation remains open and we’d encourage anyone who has been impacted by this case, or anyone with information, to come forward and speak with us.
‘All information will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.
