Outlander Kills Off Percy Beauchamp, Captain Richardson Ahead of Finale

Warning: This article contains major spoilers for Outlander’s May 8 episode “Pharos.”

Outlander is bidding farewell to not one, but two characters.

Percy Beauchamp (played by Michael Lindall) and Captain Richardson (Ben Lambert) were killed off during the Starz time-traveling series’ May 8 episode, the final episode before next week’s series finale.

The May 8 epsiode saw Lord John Grey (David Berry) kidnapped by Richardson, who tried to blackmail him into convincing Grey’s brother to not to deliver a speech about war funds, an effort Richardson believed could prevent the British from losing the Revolutionary War. However, the plan failed when Grey refused.

When Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser (Caitríona Balfe) eventually tried rescuing Grey, Claire learned Richardson was also a time traveler. In fact, he was on a mission to help the British win the Revolutionary War instead of the U.S. His hope was to abolish slavery earlier in history because he had experienced the Civil War himself through space and time.
