Astonishing report claims Maxx Crosby could quit Raiders MIDSEASON as Super Bowl contender plans trade

Maxx Crosby’s NFL future is back under the spotlight after it emerged that the Los Angeles Rams might have the defensive tackle on their radar for a potential trade.

Crosby was all set to join the Baltimore Ravens from the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this year, only for the AFC North team to sensationally withdraw from the move – consisting of two first-round picks – over a failed physical.

Crosby underwent a procedure to repair his meniscus after the 2025 season ended but his agent has insisted he is ahead of schedule in his recovery. When the Ravens move collapsed, Crosby returned to the Raiders and insisted that Vegas would be his home for good.

But now, it sounds like other rivals will be willing to put those words to the test.

According to Nate Atkins, who covers the Rams for The Athletic, Sean McVay’s team could be willing to part ways with their 2027 first-round pick midway through the 2026 season if it meant landing Crosby.

The report claims that the Rams would be ready to pounce if the Raiders endure a slow start to the season.

‘I’d also keep an eye on Maxx Crosby,’ Atkins wrote in response to a question about Rams trade targets.

‘He seems to have mended things with the Las Vegas Raiders after the trade to the Baltimore Ravens was reversed, but the organization’s approach could change if the Raiders hit another tough start to a season.

‘The Rams want to be one of the rare teams willing to trade from an expectedly loaded 2027 draft class, with the idea that they’ll be picking at the very end of the first round. But those conversations are more likely in October than they are right now.’

Crosby was deeply unhappy with how the 2025 season panned out in Vegas and was pushing for a fresh start at a Super Bowl contender.

But in the time around his Ravens trade collapse, the Raiders have worked hard to rebuild the team – far beyond taking quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the first pick at this year’s draft.

They went on a $281.5m spending spree at the start of free agency, recruiting center Tyler Linderbaum alongside Kwity Paye, Nakobe Dean, Quay Walker and Taron Johnson.

Klint Kubiak, the offensive coordinator for the Super Bowl-winning Seattle Seahawks in 2025, has taken over as head coach in Vegas, too.

But the Rams would unquestionably be fascinating proposition for Crosby, given how hungry he is for success.

They traded a first-round pick for cornerback Trent McDuffie at the Kansas City Chiefs earlier in 2026, as well as adding Jaylen Watson to the secondary.

Their quarterback, Matthew Stafford, is one of the finest in the NFL but at the age of 38, time is of the essence for both him and the Rams.

Meanwhile, the schedule for the next NFL season is expected to drop later this month.
