New England Patriots veteran Stefon Diggs was found not guilty in his assault trial stemming from an alleged altercation with his former chef.
Diggs, 32, faced one count of felony strangulation and one count of misdemeanor assault and battery. The Tuesday, May 5, verdict was read in a Dedham District courtroom after an hour-and-a-half of deliberation, according to TMZ Sports.
The wide receiver’s former chef, Mila Adams, accused Diggs of strangling her after the pair got into an alleged financial dispute last year.
“He took his arm and he came around my neck and put his elbow around my neck,” she claimed while testifying in court on Monday, May 4. “He began to choke me, [put] pressure on my neck.”
She said the confrontation happened in her bedroom in December 2025 after the pair engaged in a “text exchange” over allegedly unpaid wages.
“He came in intent to hurt me,” Adams claimed on the stand. “He was leaning against the dresser. He asked me to get up to come here. I got up off the bed and I came across to him. I stood in front of him, I stood on the side of him as he was leaning back. And he was like, ‘What was all that s*** you was talking?’”
That’s when, Adams said, Diggs “smacked” her with “an open hand.”
Adams also claimed to have had a sexual relationship with Diggs, who was dating rapper Cardi B at the time of the alleged assault, prior to becoming his employee. Us Weekly reported earlier this year that the couple split “a few days” before the Patriots lost to the Seattle Seahawks in the 2026 Super Bowl.
“It started out as friends,” Adams said. “Became sexual. We would meet up, hang out. We decided I would come work for him in February of 2025.”
Us has reached out to Diggs’ attorney for comment regarding Adams’ characterization of their relationship.
Diggs pleaded not guilty on all charges. He could have faced up to five years in prison if convicted.
Adams began working for Diggs in July 2025, about four months after he signed with the Patriots. She claims she was paid $2,000 per week to prepare his breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks as he recovered from a torn ACL that derailed his 2024 season with the Houston Texans.
“I’m skilled with recovery, so I knew what it would take to help him get healthy and stay healthy,” Adams explained.
