Do you sweat all your makeup off in the sun? I do, too — or, I used to.

But then I stumbled across the Maybelline Super Stay Lumi-Matte Foundation, which surprised me in every way. Not only is it way more affordable than my Estée Lauder and Haus Labs foundations, but it barely budged during my time at Coachella, even after hours of dancing, singing, and yes, sweating.

Not to toot my own horn, but it also looked so seamless that one of my friends asked me what I was wearing. The weekend after, I had it on for a black-tie gala and someone couldn’t believe that I had done my makeup myself. TL;DR: This foundation makes your makeup look better than good.

Truth be told, I initially only bought the Maybelline Super Stay Lumi-Matte Foundation because I didn’t want to waste my expensive products on makeup I thought would just melt off. But it surprisingly stayed put, and won me over in the process.

Even after being smushed in hot crowds and walking directly under the desert sun, I noticed that it only slightly wore off around my hairline (to be fair, I did wear a hat for one day) and above my lip, which happens no matter which products I use.

The brand claims that it’s supposed to last for up to 30 hours, though I personally wouldn’t dare wear it (or any foundation, for that matter) for that long. However, it stayed on my skin for at least 12 hours on the longest day, proving that it lasted through the whole extravaganza.

And before you ask: Yes, I did also use makeup primer and setting spray, but I don’t put a ton of stock into those — I’ve had foundations rub off even with them.

I packed on a few layers to achieve a full-glam look, since after just one, my skin was still peeking through. In other words, if you prefer something more natural, this formula works for that, too.

It has also garnered praises from those with mature skin: It “doesn’t settle into fine lines” and what’s more, “doesn’t sweat off with hot flashes,” said one 56-year-old reviewer.
