Busy Philipps is preparing for a very busy summer!
While attending the Broadway opening night of Proof at New York City's Booth Theatre on Thursday, April 16, the actress spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about the plans she and her family have made for the coming months.
"I'm working all summer on Cupertino, the new TV show that I'm doing for CBS, so the girls have to kind of be with their dad a lot and they're excited about it and so they're gonna be traveling, but I'm kind of just gonna be here working," said Philipps, 46.

The White Chicks star was announced as a regular in the upcoming legal drama in February.
The official logline describes the series as “a David vs. Goliath legal drama set in the heart of Silicon Valley that follows a lawyer (Mike Colter) who is being cheated out of his stock options by his former employer, a tech start-up. Refusing to back down, he joins forces with another recently fired attorney (Rachel Keller) to represent those taken advantage of by the tech elite, and help them fight back in a high-stakes battle against the Goliaths controlling Silicon Valley.”
Philipps shares two children — Birdie, 17, and Cricket, 12 — with her ex-husband, Marc Silverstein. They announced their separation in 2022, after 15 years of marriage.
The actress revealed in a 2010 interview on The Bonnie Hunt Show that Birdie's name was inspired by former first lady, Lady Bird Johnson.
“My husband said, ‘Wow, what a cool woman and what an amazing name … it would be so cool to name a kid after her,' " said Philipps at the time.
The former couple welcomed their second child, Cricket, in 2013.
“A lot of times your name dictates the kind of personality you have and [Marc’s] like, ‘Everyone likes Cricket, Cricket is just the greatest, happiest kid on the block, the coolest camp counselor, she’s hot in college,' " Philipps previously told PEOPLE.

While attending the premiere of Mean Girls in 2024, Philipps revealed that she doesn't identify as a "cool mom."
“I think I’m cool, but my kids don’t think I’m cool. And I’m aware of that," she told PEOPLE on the red carpet. "I also think I’m very clear on the fact that I’m their mother and not their friend, so that definitely makes me uncool.”
The musical film marked the first time Cricket experienced seeing her mom act, and it led to an awkward conversation.
"She said, ‘This is weird.' And so we talked about it the next day and I was like, ‘You know, Was that too much for you? Did you not like it?’ " Philipps recalled on Today with Hoda & Jenna. "And she’s like, ‘I don’t think I want to watch things you’re in. It was weird.’ And I was like, ‘I get it.’ And she’s like, ‘Luckily you’re not in the movie that much.’ "
