‘One Battle After Another’ VFX Artists Launch Studio In Dublin

VFX specialists Ed Bruce and Nicholas Murphy have launched Enbarr, a new VFX studio, in Dublin.

Enbarr will operate within the Dream Machine FX Group, which is a collective of visual effects studios. Other studios working under Dream Machine include ILP (Sweden), FIN (Australia), Metropolis (Spain), ZERO (Boston/Montréal), ARC Creative (Los Angeles/New York), and Mavericks (Toronto).

Bruce and Murphy are experienced VFX professionals. They both most recently worked on Paul Thomas Anderson’s best picture-winning One Battle After Another. Bruce’s other credits include Gladiator II, The Penguin, and Shōgun. Murphy’s credits include Game of Thrones, Star Wars: Ahsoka & The Mandalorian, and The Favourite.

The duo has said Enbarr will specialize in the “full spectrum of visual effects,” from CG environments and FX systems to aging and de-aging.

“At the end of the day, we’re here to help filmmakers tell their stories,” Bruce said in a statement.  “For us, it’s about the art and partnerships. We wanted to create a space where we can work alongside directors and visionaries who care about the craft as much as we do. It’s a really positive time to be in Dublin, building a team of like-minded, creative people and looking forward to what we can create together.”

Murphy added: “Launching Enbarr is a proud moment for us and a great step forward for the Irish VFX sector. Being part of the Dream Machine FX Group gives us an incredible foundation of technology and expertise to build a bright, sustainable future for the industry in Ireland. It’s an exciting new chapter.”
