Johnny Knoxville is sending off the Jackass franchise with a bang… and possibly a few 9-1-1 calls.

During the final day of filming on Jackass: Best and Last, the co-creator and star of the MTV reality stunt series and films claimed credit for a “monstrous explosion” that took place in Simi Valley, causing alarm for some locals.

“Apparently people thought a plane had crashed yesterday in Simi Valley,” he wrote on Instagram, sharing a video of a plume of smoke. “Little did they know it was from a monstrous explosion @jemfxpopov created for us for the final day ever of @jackass filming.”

Knoxville added, “We were standing near the explosion and couldn’t believe what we were seeing. Immediately after the entire cast went and hugged @jemfxpopov’s neck. Thank you to Elia, his crew and the rest of our amazing crew yesterday to make sure we went out with a bang. 26 years and that’s a wrap!! Coming to theater June 26th, Jackass: Best and Last.”

Co-created by Jeff Tremaine, Spike Jonze and Knoxville, Jackass ran for three seasons on MTV from 2000 to 2001, sparking multiple movie spin-offs over the years, including Jackass: The Movie (2002), Jackass Number Two (2006), Jackass 3D (2010) and Jackass Forever (2022).
