A father and son were allegedly stabbed by their neighbour during a terrifying encounter in front of traumatised children – leaving them both undergoing emergency surgery.
Police were called to a home on Palm Street in Girraween, western Sydney, on Monday at about 3.30pm after reports of a stabbing.
Officers were told three people were involved in an alleged altercation before two of them were stabbed multiple times in the torso.
The pair, who have since been identified as Shane Hunt, 56, and his 30-year-old son, Shane Junior, were rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
CCTV footage, obtained by Nine News, showed a man in black clothing approach the Girraween home before he was confronted by one of the Hunt men, who armed himself with a chair in defence.
The father and son were unable to fight off the alleged attacker who repeatedly stabbed them in their backyard while children were seen running from the home.
A neighbour called emergency services after seeing the alleged victims covered in blood.
‘He was covered all over in blood and he was saying “I’ve been stabbed and sliced”,’ neighbour, Artheek Subrkamya told the publication.

A 37-year-old man, who had injuries to his arms, was also taken to hospital following the alleged incident.
He was arrested on Tuesday and taken to Granville Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of attempted murder.
The alleged attacker was refused bail and is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday.
Shane Junior’s sister, Leonie Hunt, shared details of the alleged incident in an emotional GoFundMe campaign.
‘Both my dad and my brother were (allegedly) violently attacked in their own home by a neighbour who (allegedly) came onto our property and stabbed them,’ she claimed.
‘My dad was targeted, and my brother stepped in without hesitation to protect him and they both prevented him from reaching the young children inside.
‘They had just been picked up from school by their grandpa – my dad – and instead they were exposed to something no child should ever have to witness.’
Ms Hunt said the children were not hurt and ran to other neighbours to call for help, adding: ‘We plan to help them emotionally (recover) from this traumatic event.’

Both father and son have undergone emergency surgery, a relative said

She alleged that ‘this was not the first incident involving this neighbour’.
‘We have had many (alleged) harassments, threats especially to our children,’ she claimed.
‘No one should have to live in fear in their own home.’
Meanwhile, the father and son were able to share an emotional reunion in hospital after both undergoing surgery.
Footage showed the pair hugging while one lay down in his hospital bed, both covered in bandages, and both with casts on their arms.
An investigation into the circumstances remains ongoing.
Ms Hunt said she set up the GoFundMe, which has raised $4,000 so far, to help pay for her father and brother’s medical expenses, time off work and whatever they need during their recovery.
