Kyle Juszczyk is being released by the San Francisco 49ers after eight seasons with the team, according to reports.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter claims 49ers chiefs informed Juszczyk, 33, on Monday night that his time in San Francisco is set to come to an end.
He was due to earn a base salary of $4.1million with the team in 2025, along with a $100k signing bonus.
According to Schefter, the nine-time Pro Bowler has no plans to retire and will instead play on next season, coming as a major alert to NFL teams as he prepares to enter free agency.
Juszczyk, the husband of fashion designer Kristin, enjoyed a memorable stint with the Niners, making it to the Super Bowl on two separate occasions.
During their 31-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020, he became the first Harvard alumnus in history to score a touchdown in a Super Bowl, while also taking three catches for 39 receiving yards.

Juszczyk and the Niners made it back to the NFL’s showpiece game four years later, only to suffer another defeat to the Chiefs – and this time in even more agonizing fashion after a last-gasp Mecole Hardman Jr touchdown in overtime.
Last season Kyle Shanahan’s men failed to make it into the postseason altogether after a disappointing campaign which saw them suffer injuries to a number of key players.
San Francisco is therefore undergoing a major revamp this offseason, with wide receiver Deebo Samuel already traded to the Washington Commanders.
Now Juszczyk is the latest high-profile name heading for the exit at Levi’s Stadium, bringing an end to his iconic spell with the Niners.
The Harvard graduate began his NFL career with the Baltimore Ravens, who selected him in the fourth round of the 2013 draft.
After four years in Baltimore, where he earned his first Pro Bowl selection, Juszczyk entered free agency for the first time before heading to San Francisco.
