3 Best New Hulu Movies to Watch This Weekend (March 27-29)

It’s hard to believe that the end of March is already here, but if you’ve been watching all the great movies on Hulu all month long, time flies by fast.

The Disney-owned streamer is constantly adding new films to its library, and Watch With Us has been keeping tabs on what’s the cream of the crop.

At the top of our binge-watch list is Sentimental Value, a 2025 Oscar-nominated drama that’s guaranteed to make you cry. In contrast, the horror thriller Dangerous Animals will make you scream in terror.

If you want to laugh, give Long Shot a shot — it’s an underrated rom-com featuring terrific performances from Charlize Theron and The Studio’s Seth Rogen.

‘Dangerous Animals’ (2025)

When free-spirited American tourist Zephyr (Hassie Harrison) meets cute real estate agent Moses (Josh Heuston) while traveling along Australia’s Gold Coast, she thinks she’s in for a vacation filled with passion and adventure. But when she’s abducted by sea captain Tucker (Jai Courtney), who likes to feed his passengers to hungry sharks nearby, Zephyr has to push romance aside and fight for her life. Tucker won’t go down easy, though, so Zephyr will have to rely on Heather (Ella Newton), Tucker’s other kidnapped victim, and a little luck to survive.

It’s March, which means it’s Moira Rose’s favorite season — “awards.” The 98th Annual Academy Awards is scheduled to take place on March 15, and Hulu is celebrating all month long with a slew of great movies and series for your viewing pleasure. Watch With Us has compiled a complete list of the new movies […]

It’s been a while since a B-movie was this fun and violent, and to its credit, Dangerous Animals doesn’t pretend to be anything more than a trashy blend of Jaws and The Silence of the Lambs. Harrison’s Zephyr is a heroine who is more fierce than plucky — she’ll do anything to survive, and that includes giving Tucker a taste of his own deadly medicine. As the film’s sadistic killer, a scruffy Courtney chews as much scenery as the sharks gnaw on his unfortunate victims.

‘Sentimental Value’ (2025)

Nora (Renate Reinsve) is a successful stage actress who has a good relationship with her younger sister, Agnes (Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas) and almost no contact with her famous director father, Gustav (Stellan Skarsgård). That changes when he returns with an intriguing offer — he’s written a new screenplay about his dead mother, and he wants Nora to play the part. But Nora isn’t so willing to forgive Gustav for his past transgressions, even if he’s offering her the role of a lifetime.

Nominated for nine Oscars and winner of Best International Feature, Sentimental Value is an engrossing and emotionally complex drama that — ironically — ignores being overly sentimental. Instead, it takes a hard look at a family that’s both broken and resilient. The entire cast, which includes Elle Fanning as a young actress desperate to be in Gustav’s film, is terrific, but it’s Skarsgård who lingers in the memory the most as a man who realizes he’s made a lot of mistakes in his life and is doing his best to correct them in the time he has left. If that means he’ll make a movie that will restore his once-sterling reputation, well, that’s a bonus he won’t really object to.

‘Long Shot’ (2019)

U.S. Secretary of State Charlotte Field (Charlize Theron) is secretly planning to run for president, but she needs a good speechwriter if she wants to convince people she’s the right person for the job. After she runs into unemployed newspaper reporter Fred Flarsky (Seth Rogen) at a charity event, she hires him. But the more time they spend together, the closer they become until an unexpected romance blossoms between them. Charlotte’s ambitions don’t include falling in love, but how long can she ignore what her heart keeps telling her?

Long Shot is a winning opposites-attract rom-com that has a sharp script, no-frills direction, and most importantly, two leads who are actually funny and have chemistry with each other. You wouldn’t normally think of Theron and Rogen as a romantic couple, and that’s the film’s point — they shouldn’t work, but they do. With a supporting cast that includes underrated comedian June Diane Raphael as one of Charlotte’s exasperated staffers and Alexander Skarsgård as Canada’s hunky prime minister, Long Shot is the rare comedy that successfully mixes politics and romance.
