The entire month of June is a colorful, glitter-infused, rainbow-filled time of the year — thanks wholeheartedly to the celebration of gay, nonbinary, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer pride. No matter how you identify, everyone can support LGBTQIA+ communities today and always.
Over the last few decades, brands have made it their mission to support LGBTQIA+ communities by doing so much more than splashing rainbows and bling on their bestselling merchandise. They’re donating to LGBTQIA+ causes, charities and groups that are providing shelter to unhoused youths, education for mental health professionals, or a safe space for those who need it most.
When Did Pride Month Become a Thing?
The very first Pride march happened on June 28, 1970, to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, which is the catalyst for the modern LGBTQIA+ movement. Pride observances just sort of stumbled into June, and it’s stuck ever since.
So, dust off your party clothes, grab your rainbow tutu and shop these brands that are celebrating with cool gear — and that are massive supporters of the LGBTQIA+ communities all year.
